Professor Stephen Hawking was a supporter of the Palestinian people and the BDS (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions) movement.

During the 2009-10 "Operation Cast Lead" when Israel killed 1400 Palestinians in Gaza, he said: "A people under occupation will continue to resist in any way it can.....the situation [in Palestine] is like that in South Africa before 1990, that cannot continue."

In 2013, he supported the academic boycott of Israel by withdrawing from a conference in Jerusalem, stating that he had decided to "respect the boycott" based on advice from Palestinian academics.

Brighton support for Open Shuhada Street campaign.

Great action by Brighton and Hove PSC in support of the Open Shuhada Street campaign. One of Brighton's busiest pedestrian streets was transformed into Shuhada Street, with an Israeli military checkpoint with "soldiers" checking IDs of passing people. Members of the public were left in no doubt as to the reality of the apartheid nature of the occupation in Hebron. A passing group of 'Sussex Friends of Israel' members (with Israeli flags) passing by unwittingly came to play the role of Hebron's Israeli settlers very well! Brighton & Hove PSC Facebook post.

In Hebron, illegal Israeli settlers move freely and carry arms, while Palestinians face checkpoints, humiliation, severe restrictions on freedom of movement, arrests, vicious attacks and abuse by Israeli settlers. Roads in Hebron are divided in half, one side for Israeli settlers, and one side for Palestinians.            More information: Open Shuhada Street 2018 Campaign.

Saturday information stalls in Hastings

We've run weekly information stalls in Hastings Town Centre opposite Lloyds Bank every Saturday 12.00 'til 14.00 (2 pm) since 2014. This winter we've decided to set up the stall depending on the weather prospects - when it's raining/sleeting/very cold very few people are around in the town centre! Each week we'll decide on the Friday whether to go ahead or not - 'phone number to ring to find out: 07854 486794. Back to normal in the Spring.

Please come along to say hello and support us: any amount of time is appreciated.
