War Crimes in Gaza

For the past two weeks Israel has kept up a relentless, inhumane bombing campaign on Gaza. This followed Palestinian resistance to the violent ethnic cleansing of Palestinians from their homes in Sheikh Jarrah, Jerusalem. At the time of writing 219 Palestinians, including 63 children, have been killed by this onslaught, 1500 wounded and 58,0000 made homeless. According to the UN and multiple human rights organisations we are seeing war crimes being committed daily.

The Facebook event page is here. Please share widely.
The leaflet promoting the demonstration can be downloaded here. And here's an A4 poster that can be pinned up: download here. Please print and distribute

Last Saturday's Hastings Rally for Palestine

Thanks to everyone who came to the rally. There was a great turnout. Speakers gave us the facts about the Nakba (the Catastrophe) taking us up to the present Israeli attacks, making it clear that - the Nakba continues. We were given an account of the role that the UK played in setting up the state of Israel, and how the US has backed it to the tune of $114 billion since 1949. There was a call to support the Palestinian-led BDS (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions) Movement.

A message was read out from a friend in Gaza, Raja'a who is a teacher, and a mother of 5 children. We've posted her message on YouTube.

Solidarity action with the Palestine General Strike

Millions of Palestinians across the West Bank, Gaza, Jerusalem, Israel, and surrounding regions took part in the "Strike for Dignity," which called for an end to Israel's "campaign of violence and ethnic cleansing against our people." 'We are united as a people' Article here.

Thanks to everyone who attended our event in Hastings - especially at such short notice. We received a great response from passers-by and motorists. Lots of interest on social media with more than 7,000 hits on Twitter.

Introduce sanctions against Israel

A petition calling for the government to 'introduce sanctions against Israel, including blocking all trade, and in particular arms,' has reached over 350,000 signatories. Please sign and share. Petition here.

Solidarity from Italian workers

Solidarity for Palestine builds across the globe: Port workers in the Italian city of Livorno in Tuscany refused to load a weapons and explosives shipment after discovering it was destined for the Israeli port of Ashdod. "The port of Livorno will not be an accomplice in the massacre of the Palestinian people," said L'Unione Sindacale di Base (USB).
