We are reaching out to organisations and individuals to build a wider and stronger local movement to campaign against these US/Israeli attacks against Iran which follow Israel's bombing of Lebanon, Syria, Yemen and of course its genocidal attacks against the Palestinian people.

People were appalled at the Israeli/US bombing of the Girls' Elementary School in Minab killing 165 school girls. And now the UK government has given the US the green light to use UK bases for its attacks. When Israel/US started attacking Iran, Israel closed all crossings. It's important that while we focus on the attacks against Iran, we shouldn't forget that the people of Gaza are still suffering. We received a very worrying message from our friends in Al-Mawasi: "We're so tired of wars. We still have sick people waiting to cross the border and we don't know what to do about it. Enough of these wars everywhere. Palestine has been cut to pieces, and we're wedged in between the borders of Gaza and Rafah and we're suffering inside. Why all of this? When will it end? We're so tired of wars and all this suffering.

"We can't find proper life here in our land and we're unable to get out even to find medical help, we're so tired of this hard life. We're in a holy month, but because of this war, shops started closing, increasing their prices and keeping the goods away to sell it for higher. Everyone is using us for their benefit, Israel, America and even the traders here. Why are they punishing us? What did we do?"

The PSC is asking councillors to make a commitment to uphold the rights of the Palestinian people. The PSC will be building on this momentum in the May local elections in England where we will be calling on council candidates to pledge for Palestine. There are three steps that councillors are asked to sign:

Uphold the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people; Support efforts to prevent, and ensure accountability for, Israel's crimes of genocide, military occupation, ethnic cleansing and apartheid; Ensure my council is not complicit in and does not help to normalise Israel's violations of international law, including through the council divesting pensions and any other funds it administers from complicit companies and through its procurement policies.
